Are you interested in promoting our profession and planting the seeds of success in young minds?
ACRA is looking for volunteers to attend the following high school career days. If you are interested in assisting, please email Robin at rosterode@hotmail.com for more information.
- Tuesday, October 11 @ Pinnacle High School from 6 - 8 p.m. (need someone to arrive for setup at 5:30 p.m.)
- Tuesday, October 18 @ North Canyon High School from 4 - 7 p.m. (need someone to arrive fro setup at 3:30 p.m.)
- Thursday, October 20 @ Shadow Mountain High School from 4:30 - 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 9 @ Dysart High School from 7:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
ACRA's goal is to have TWO bodies at our table at each event, it makes it more fun and it would be great to have an official and a freelancer at each one to give the students a couple perspectives (or captioner or CART provider).
A word from your Pres:
First of all, I want to thank all of you who have stepped up to cover the career days that are covered. A BIG hearfelt THANK YOU !!
Secondly, I will tell you I've covered several of these high school career fairs, and it REALLY is rewarding and actually fun to interact with the kids. They're ALWAYS super interested in the machine, of course, and the job itself, and it's kinda refreshing to be around young kids searching/inquiring information as they search for their future careers.
Across most of the country, student enrollment is waning in a BIG way, and these high school job fairs are the PERFECT opportunity to "get the word out" about reporting.
So......................I am BESEECHING all of you to dig deep and try to find a time slot that works for you. It's IDEAL, if not imperative, to have two people at each table. As Robin says, it's more fun and less hectic with two reporters covering.
ACRA provides give-away swag, table banner, hand outs, essentially everything you need for a great presentation. Robin and I are also available at any time to answer any questions. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.....at this critical time for the future of court reporting, I again ask you to "step up."
Laura, ACRA Pres
