COURSE TITLE: Compassion Fatigue
PRESENTER NAME: Denise Beagley

DESCRIPTION: Define compassion fatigue and how it relates to court reporters.

COURSE TITLE: Courtroom Technology, Digital Recording, AI and the future of court reporting
PRESENTER NAME: NCRA President Kristin M. Anderson
CREDIT HOURS: 1.5 hrs.
DESCRIPTION: President Kristin Anderson will be joining us “fresh” from the Court Technology Conference being held in Phoenix September 12-14. It is the most advanced court technology conference IN THE WORLD. President Anderson and NCRA’s Strong Committee will be an exhibitor at the conference, after which she’ll drive up the hill and speak to us! We are VERY fortunate to have her.

COURSE TITLE: Innocence Project
PRESENTER NAME: Kristine Bunch
CREDIT HOURS: 1.5 hrs.
DESCRIPTION: Kristine Bunch languished in prison for 17 years after she was arrested and charged with setting a fire that claimed the life of her three-year-old son Anthony on June 30, 1995. On March 12, 2012, the court reversed the conviction based on evolving and more reliable fire science, undisclosed ATF evidence which contradicted trial testimony that Bunch had started the fire. She will describe how the fire science technology at the time of her trial was wrongly applied in her case and, also that the court reporter’s notes of CRITICAL testimony were thought to be lost due to a courthouse fire but later discovered, transcribed and formed a basis for her retrial and ultimate exoneration.

COURSE TITLE: Google, Gadgets, and Apps!
MODERATOR NAMES: Cyndi Larimer, CSR
CREDIT HOURS: 1.5 hrs.
DESCRIPTION: In this session, we’ll talk about phone apps, computer programs, and gadgets that can make your life as a court reporter a little more organized and efficient, and we’ll throw in a few to make life a little more fun too.

COURSE TITLE: Trial Advocacy of Victims of Child Abuse
PRESENTER NAME: Karolina Czaplinska and Christina Wesnitzer
CREDIT HOURS: 1.5 hr; 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
DESCRIPTION: Karolina is a member of the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office currently prosecuting cases involving child abuse and sex crimes committed against children. Christina Wesnitzer is a victim-witness advocate for the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.

COURSE TITLE: Let’s Play!
MODERATOR NAMES: Angela Miller, Terry Libretti, Tammy Gillett, Treva Colwell
CREDIT HOURS: 1.5 hrs.
DESCRIPTION: Seminar attendees will actively participate as teams to compete in the games of Jeopardy and Bingo, answering questions on reporting-related topics.

Court reporting students are welcome to attend this event without charge. By registering, students commit to attend all or a portion of the seminars. Please email office@acraonline.org to get the code for registration.
